MaRS Attacks When the NHS sold the Middlesex Hospital in Central London in 2006, we turned it into a very smart block of Candy & Candy luxury flats. When the Canadian health service had finished with the old Toronto General Hospital in the city’s University District, they turned it into this. I can’t help feeling we missed a trick.

The challenge of “more” has become a major issue for our health system. And it is a particularly difficult challenge for statutory bodies to address, since tackling it requires not just providing more services, but encouraging people to change their behaviour.

The Social Innovation Camp advisory board gathered on Friday 14th March to pore over the submitted ideas. We now have a shortlist of 6 ideas that will be developed.

The potential for the web to create social change holds some really exciting opportunities for social ventures. There are some great examples already out there: Freecycle for your recycling, School of Everything to learn stuff and Fixmystreet for improving your local neighbourhood.
